nafisa in the south

Nafisa grew up in Queens NY, got some sort of degree in Ethnic Studies and Political Economy, worked in youth organizing/nonprofit, then moved to Kolkata for a fellowship. Somehow she ended up in Atlanta, getting a masters in development practice.

23 Days : 23 Mini-Projects.  Go!
The first installation is a cop-out, but I’m still proud of it.  Today I fixed up (with loads of code and help from Sroyon) the Jeevikrafts website.  April recently modeled for some of the products so the site will be up and running within the week hopefully.  [view sample]
Second of all, I can’t believe I’m doing this.  Bwahaha.  Frankly, it’s been sort of a farce this year but whatever, I enjoy being a little creative even if it’s ‘web-design’. Again..

Sudden change of plans!  Trip canceled!  Hm, I suppose I technically gained a month.  I’m thinking, I’m thinking… of signing up for a permaculture course which would basically be woofing for a month.  Doesn’t sound too bad does it.  Or maybe Bangla in Dhaka?  Since I doubt they have a studio art class I can sign up for on the spot.  Just waiting on the confirmation for my return ticket to New York so I can hit the ground running.  & take to the road baby, before I take to the books.
Last night I came back from Bangalore.  & thanks to this trip, I am becoming completely anal about my diet.  It was good, terrible, and really great.  Highlights being sneaking into private rooftop pools, going bangle shopping with April (I got my first bangles of the year, checking out Jagaa and eating that fig-avocado salad with Nikolai and doing all this despite a shitty virus/sore throat.

&Really quickly, here is 1- April posing for Jeevikrafts in eco-friendly recycled Sari fashion.  Seriously folks, $10including shipping if you’d like.  and 2-

In chronological order today: 1/2 liter water, banana, tea, banana again, 1/2 liter water, boiled egg and noodles, tea again, diet coke, turkey double meat sandwich with lettuce, tomoatoes, pickles, cheese, onions, cucumbers and southwest sauce, and I have a giant bowl of salad with balsamic vinegar later tonight and a 2 liter water that’ll probably be finished off.  Water is awesome because it’s humid as hell.
