nafisa in the south

Nafisa grew up in Queens NY, got some sort of degree in Ethnic Studies and Political Economy, worked in youth organizing/nonprofit, then moved to Kolkata for a fellowship. Somehow she ended up in Atlanta, getting a masters in development practice.

I fly home August 24th.  And there I’ll start the drudgery of GRE prep and graduate school and job applications.  Not really, I am actually looking forward to it.  Either before or immediately after, weather permitting, the above photo is the plan. A month?  Broken up between months?  Not sure yet.
I’m treating graduate school like marriage, I have to get certain things over with before I commit.  There is always time if you make it.  There is!  Soon I will announce Invite Nafisa To Your Couch Month.  I’ve booked couches in four states for sure.  I’m pretty sure I can crash on Jenny and Brian’s couch and help make some goat cheese in W.Virginia, dance and drink ourselves silly remincing with I’Nasah in Georgia/Mississippi (depending on where you are girl!), say heythere to Tiana and Tyler in Louisiana, bother Emmelle in Nevada and of course California is California.  Then there’s the more adventurous second trip that will be done between Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin, and I’ll be going to Colorado anyway to check out the DU campus but I’m not making concrete plans for that yet.  I want friends in Arizona, New Mexico and Tennessee. Ha.
So the other night we went to see this Dylan tribute show.  Earlier in the year I got to meet the lovely Rajeshri-da who is this gentleman who spent a number of years in the West Village and moved back to Calcutta. God, his performance was just SO GOOD, ah, it scrambled my brain and I think greg and I laid out on the lawn and just started really yearning for the U.S.  Haha.  As fucked up as it is, at least we have Dylan.
geh.
