Nafisa grew up in Queens NY, got some sort of degree in Ethnic Studies and Political Economy, worked in youth organizing/nonprofit, then moved to Kolkata as an AIF fellow. i am bad luck for taxi drivers in kolkata. i took a cab this morning whose engine sparked and smoked and finally burnt out on the bypass. i get into a second taxi to get to work, and about 2km from my office the taxi driver hits a motorcyclist. oh my god. it was awful. the cyclist didn’t get hurt badly, but he was stumbling to get back on his bike. last week i was a block away from my office when the police decide to search the car and lo and behold, take away his license.
we hit a motorcyclist today forchristssake.
